Wednesday Post

During our class discussions we mentioned how Darwins theory angered the men of the 19th century because every ideal they believed in was challenged. At first I didn't think that it wold have that big of an impact on people. I thought of it more as a positive rather than negative. People at the time criticized Darwin and threatened him because his theory was not what society was accustomed to hearing. Our class discussions had a similar reaction to those men of the 19th century, obviously not that extreme but to a certain extent we were not pleased when we heard something that opposed to what we believed in. People who didn't have any religious background had trouble relating to what religion really stands for and what it was built on, and those who did follow some kind of faith were upset at the fact there there could be a possibility that there isn't a God out there. I think that people dont like the idea that what they believe in and devoted so much time into can be completely made up just like people who dont believe in any "greater being" or "god" like being told that there could be someone up there watching your every day move.
