If
humans lived in a world where we know our future, where every action and
thought we have is predetermined and calculated, then life would not exist.
Life itself would be dull and boring because there will never be the
possibility of a what if. In other
words, like we discussed in class, the mystery is gone and the mystery is what
makes life interesting, what makes life worth living. People make illogical and
irrational decisions because they want to take a risk, because the outcome of
what they are doing is unknown. Although humans want to fit in, they want to
stand out as well and sometimes, doing irrational things makes them different,
makes them unique. If we know how our lives are going to be like from the day
we are born, then as said in class, we would all be robots living the same
monotone life as the person next to us; no one would stand out living in a “fake
reality” as Mona said. The advantageous advantage, in my opinion, so far is the
ability to make choices or at least think that we are making choices and that
is why humans have evolved over time while animals have not. If the mystery was
taken away, the ability or at least the need to make choices is taken away.
