Tuesday Discussion

I highly agree with what Anike is saying because humans are completely unpredictable as well as illogical and irrational creatures. Yet, I do not think they are purposely self destructive. For example, no one smokes because they want the possibility of getting lung cancer, no one skydives because they are happy that there's a possibility of death. People choose to be illogical because they enjoy the thrill, they like the adrenaline rush or high they obtain from doing something dangerous. Some people argued in class that most of these decisions were made because humans want to practice their so called freedom, but I disagree with that. In order to make decision for yourself and be "free", you do not need to do something that could somehow harm you. I think that these sort of decisions relate to an earlier lecture. I think it's similar to drinking  because for that brief moment in time, you reach "clarity". You are not thinking about any problems you might be having, you are basically living in the moment and simply enjoying it.
