Today we spent most of the class discussing the beauty of innocence and on some level, stupidity. I can see why some people may believe that innocence is in a child is a beautiful thing and why they spend so much time gawking over a small child who cannot understand a simple concept. However it puzzles me how people can believe that the same innocence in an adult is beautiful. Adult are supposed to have experienced things over time that have allowed them to gain knowledge. If they continue to be as innocent as a child when they have already matured into adulthood it simply means that their time has been wasted because they have not gained any intellectual capacity from the time they have spent on the earth. I think that innocence is a huge handicap, even more so than acute consciousness especially in the fast paced world that we live in.
