Wednesday Post

As time goes on, humans continue to get more and more bloodthirsty. Because we are considered "civilized" I can understand that some people may think that we do not have urges to kill or harm others; the idea of killing others around you for no reason sounds completely barbaric. Yet unlike animals, we find ways to kill just for the sake of it, because we know we can. Modern day society is somewhat civilized. We channel our anger and desire to kill by doing other activities such as aggressive sports, hunting animals, or practicing religion. These activities may seem harmless and make it look like humans are not violent and bloodthirsty, but the fact that we have to find other "acceptable" things to do to replace killing explains enough. We chose to participate in these activities in order to restrain ourselves from being the truly violent people that we know we are. As society develops humans do get more bloodthirsty, but since society is more developed and civilized we are able to find different ways to cope with this need for violence.
