thursday post

Man is a social creature. Man needs to be around other man. But it is promoted by man that we as humans be different from everyone else. Now, how does that work? We need others in our life to feel as if we're a part of something. But, to be something in this world, we need to be different, and go against the grain and take risks to achieve an advancement. So, it's just another contradiction. Life is a contradiction. And I think that is at the core of Dostoyevsky's ideas. He can't choose a side because he sees every single contradiction in making a decision. Everything we do as humans will be seen by someone else as wrong or right. Everyone has an opinion about what we do. I feel that Dostoyevsky wants us as humans to truthfully believe in ourselves and what we believe in, because, if we do that, we cannot create a contradiction and not doubt ourselves.
