Reaction

To me, the most interesting part of the lecture/discussion that we had in class today was the interpretation on what religion is. Ultimately, we came to the conclusion that religion is something you are taught. Does that mean that it is the same as being taught how to analyze Dostoyevsky, biology, or calculus? If you look at it this way, then the bible is the textbook of the class. Anyways, I feel that it is not just something that you are taught. Ultimately, at one point or another in ones life, they are going to look at it and try to interpret if it is true considering all of the knowledge that they have obtained over the live. It is then where they will choose to carry on with religion. One might say "oh my parents are x religion so I am x religion", but in reality shouldn't we just follow what we want to follow?
