The idea of a wall was also part of today's discussion. I found it interesting that people feel comfort and ease when they are faced with a wall, and that humans, in fact, embrace the limits that are put before them. These limits stop us from going beyond our knowledge and we take advantage of the barriers that prevent us from that which we don't know. As much as we feel that we want to know the truth, we don't, and we are okay with being stopped by the wall. Humans are perfectly fine with living in a world with boundaries, and it is only the truly brilliant and "hyper conscious" people, like the underground man, that struggle with the barriers that are set before us.
