Comment on Rodrigo's Post

When I began to read Notes from the Underground, the one thing that stood out to me the most was the underground mans pessimistic attitude. Right from the start he made it seem as if he hated everyone around him, including himself. It seems that the underground man has this hopeless point of view on life and I did not seem to understand why at first. Rodrigo mentions that the underground man refuses to believe that life is "beautiful and sublime" because he knows that life itself is not perfect. He has the clarity to know better and know what life truly is. It makes sense that he would try to destroy it and avoid this feeling so he could live a real life and not something "made up". Most people would find his attitude as negative and cynical, but as bad as it sounds to us he is living his life realistically.
