Bill Nye Debate

Though we did not talk specifically about the book today, I thought the Bill Nye debate video could be connected to it. The man that Bill Nye is debating against, a man who clearly believes in creationism and nothing else, is dead set on his beliefs. This is the perfect embodiment of the "active man" that Dostoyevsky describes. While Nye seems to attempt to understand on a slight level, the view point of his opponent, the other guy does not try at all. Again, as I have said before I do believe in God I'm just not sure of the extent of truth there is behind every single story in the Bible. This guy, (not Nye) makes them sound like the utmost ridiculous stories ever saying that everyone was "vegetarian before Noah's ark". He also tried to say that the type of teeth certain animals have are not a sign of evolution, but rather a creation if God. However, this literally made no sense to be since certain teeth, like incisors, have developed for the sole purpose of ripping into meat. Bill Nye wasn't the best debater, but he did support his view points with widely known principles of science. At the cost of sounding like a nerd, the debate sort of reminded me why I like biology so much and why I decided to study it in college: it explains everything that is right before us and even that which is occurring within us in a logical way that we can almost 100% assume is true.
