The paragraphs that we read today talk about the ideas that Dostoyevsky introduced in the earlier stages of the novel. He goes back to the idea of the wall that people cannot see past something without limiting themselves. People need that wall because if they didn’t have it then they would go mad. We our a spec in the universe and the galaxy is infinite, which is scary to think about because their isn’t an end. We are so caught up with our self-absorption that we are have yet to discover the bigger picture. Another idea that we discussed in class was Dostoyevsky problem of not being able to fight back. In a sense his consciousness has to do with it because most men don’t think about the consequences resulting from the fight, but Dostoyevsky does it to such an extent that it prevents him from fighting. He chooses rather to not fight, which is a good decision although he would rather fight. I believe he is to smart to fight. Dostoyevsky can be considered to be the man in the middle that prevents fights from happening. The man in the middle is the best thing that can happen in a fight because that is what mostly the fighters are looking for. If the middle man isn’t their then the result isn’t good, but with the middle man  preventing the fight from happening the result will always be good. The fighters in a sense become satisfied without hurting one another.
