Tuesday Post

     In the final chapter, the underground man loses his one chance to start a family and live a normal life. Liza comes back to visit the underground man in the middle of a discussion he is having with his servant. The underground man is furious and takes this anger out on Liza. All the previous feelings he felt towards her disappeared and he began to question her appearance and try to humiliate her. Liza came back to see the underground man because she felt a true connection with him, maybe even began to love him. The underground man tells us how in his eyes love is about being superior to your significant other and continues to speak in that manner and mock Liza until she walks out the door. He hands her some money as she is leaving, but she leaves it on the table on her way out. He soon regrets his actions and chases after her, but it is too late. After that, the underground man never sees or hears from Liza again. He realizes that he is incapable of selfless love and returns to his solitude in the undergrounds.
